Bradford County, Pennsylvania is located in the heart of the Endless Mountains, one of the most scenic places in the United States. Towanda, which is in the County Seat, is located approximately 40-75 miles from 5 larger metropolitan areas - Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, and Williamsport, PA as well as Elmira and Binghamton, NY. The major highways include US Route 6, Route 14 and Route 220. The county has a population of approximately 60,100 and an estimated population within 50 miles of 475,000. The area attracts out-of-county sportsmen and recreational enthusiasts alike because of its hunting and fishing facilities, ponds, lakes, and streams as well as its thousands of acres of State Forest and State Game lands.

The main industry is agricultural dairy and veal farms; major employers include Masonite, Ingersoll-Rand, Dupont, Osram-Sylvania, Taylor Packing and the Robert Packer Hospital/Guthrie Clinic (the largest employer). There are three (3) hospitals in the County (Sayre-Robert Packer Hospital/Guthrie Clinic, Towanda Memorial, and Troy Clinic with 366,99 and 45 beds respectively). Bradford County has seven (7) public school districts with a total enrollment of approximately 12,242; the Bradford county Career Center with 219 students, and continuing education through Penn State Northern Tier there are five (5) private or parochial schools in the county. Media facilities consist of three (3) daily and seven (7) weekly newspapers, three (3) radio stations, three (3) cable television services with the closest TV station being approximately 40 miles away in Elmira, NY.

There are two local airports (Towanda and Sayre) with regional airports located in Binghamton and Horseheads, NY and an International airport located in Avoca, PA.
